Economic systems

Be sure to have a HAPPY and SAFE THANKSGIVING!!!!

Having completed our unit on European Government systems it is now time for us to embark on the wonderful world of economics! By the end of this unit students will not only be able to analyze various types of economic systems, but will be able to compare the systems located in the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia. We will also examine trade barriers and currency exchange amongst European countries, and how they impact voluntary trade. The unit will end with a discussion on the economic growth of in Europe, where students will learn the difference between investing in capital and human capital.

As a whole I am content with the scores on the Government unit. These standards are some of the most difficult we cover all year. Students will have an opportunity to further master these elements as these particular standards repeat three more time in the curriculum. As we approach the end of the semester, please continue to encourage your students to study. There will be a cumulative exam at the end of the semester.

Important dates to come!
December 3 - Economics Quiz
December 10, 2009 - Unit 4 Test
December 18, 2009 - Final Exam (covering all domains: History, Geography, Government, & Economics)
